All
the News on the Net
The
Internet has become a major source for current and
archived news. Yahoo lists Websites for over 9,000
newspapers, 3,500 magazines, and 7,000 TV stations.
Most of these are updated daily.
Where to begin? Let’s first discuss some news
directories and then focus on sources for national and
local news.
http://news.google.com
– This site is terrific! Google News presents
information culled from 4,500 news sources worldwide.
Topics are updated continuously throughout the day.
www.altavista.com/news – Similar to Google News,
contains current headlines and a search capability.
www.totalnews.com
– A search engine and directory of news sites
designed to increase your access to information.
http://dailynews.yahoo.com – You can use this
site as your “home page” and customize it to match your
own personal preferences.
www.abyznewslinks.com – Has links to just about
every newspaper in the world.
www.cnn.com – Get
updated news stories. Includes streaming video and
audio and shows, for those who have a broadband Internet
connection.
www.nytimes.com
– Contains the complete contents of the Times as well as
archives. It’s free, but does require registration.
Local news sources include
www.westernnews.com
(Prescott Courier and other area papers),
www.redrocknews.com,
and
www.azdailysun.com.
My
favorite source for statewide coverage is
www.azcentral.com.
The site is put together by the Arizona Republic and
KPNX-TV.
If
you haven’t visited this site, go there! Another
comprehensive Arizona based news site worth a visit is
www.azfamily.com.
Find your own news source! Just go to
http://dir.yahoo.com
and click on “News and Media” and you’ll find
thousands of sources.
