Humor on the Web
In
many ways, the Internet is a reflection of the human
condition. And, thank goodness, it is a plentiful source
of comedy and humor. Just about everyone has either
sent or received a joke by email. There are also many
Websites dedicated to humor.
www.humor.com
is the granddaddy of humor sites, “disturbing the
peace since 1997.” Among its many features is a
jokes database. You can search by type or category, or
just experience the Zen of the random joke. Check out
the “diversions” section and try out the handy “random
excuse machine.” Another feature is “joke mail,” where
you can sign up to have a top notch joke emailed to you
each day.
www.jokesngiggles.com also has a database
with thousands of jokes. A unique feature of this site
is that visitors can rate jokes on a scale of 1 to 5.
Why waste time with bad jokes? By picking the ones
rated 4 and above, you have a better chance of a good
chuckle.
www.comics.com
-- Click on
the “Features” button and pick your favorite comic
strip. You can email one to a friend, or subscribe to
get a favorite strip sent to you daily.
www.bigpuns.com
gives all you punsters out there enough
material to have your friends groaning for years.
www.theonion.com
features a weekly
blast of irreverent fake news stories. As
National Lampoon was to the '70s and Spy to the '80s,
The Onion just may be to the '90s.
www.jokes.com
is published by the folks at the Comedy Central cable
channel.
http://humor/about.com
has a funny
site of the day, along with links to other fun stuff.
www.sitcomsonline.com
contains information on TV comedies. From Mork & Mindy
to Sanford and Son, you’ll find it here.
I hope you have a few laughs by visiting these sites.
As comedian Marty Feldman once said “The pen is mightier
than the sword, and considerably easier to write with.”
